England coach Gareth Southgate has made some heartwarming remarks about Bukayo Saka as he reckons the Nigeria-born youngster would make the perfect son-in-law.

Saka, 20, was subjected to vile abuse after missing from the penalty spot in the Euro 2020 final against Italy.

But he is a popular character within the England squad.

And Southgate was full of praise for the Gunners' talent, saying: “He's a fabulous kid.

"If your daughter brings Bukayo home, you'd be more than happy!

“His family have been brilliant with him. Here, he felt the love of the players and staff immediately after the Euros.

"That will have helped, in the immediate aftermath for him.

"He's a fantastic talent."

Southgate, who has a son and a daughter, continued: “He's one that's possibly less appreciated.

"His profile isn't quite the same as some of our other attacking players.

“He just quietly goes about his job.

"But I think you see the consistency of his performances and quality of his play."

Saka has featured in both Nations League games and could start on the bench against Italy today.

England lost their tournament opener 1-0 in Hungary before securing a 1-1 draw away to Germany.

The Three Lions host Italy on Saturday before completing their four-game window at home to Hungary on Tuesday.
