In a desperate effort to ensure Napoli striker, Victor Osimhen hit the ground running after his recent injury setback, Italian doctor Gianpaolo Tartaro, will in the coming weeks carry out a second test on the Nigerian star.
www.iotifonapoli.com reported on Monday that the essence of the second test is to ascertain the condition of his cheekbone to confirm his readiness to return to action after successful surgery on November 23.
Osimhen was tested positive for Covid-19 while holidaying in Nigeria and he is said to be on mandatory isolation inLagos at the moment.
But the former Lille forward can only return to Italy if the latest test turns out to be negative within a week.
He will then be visited by Gianpaolo Tartaro upon his arrival at Naples to carry out a major scan of the left orbital area of his face. If cleared by Doctor Gianpaolo, Osimhen will then return to full action by next weekend with the help of a face mask.
According to
www.iotifonapoli.com, manager Luciano Spalletti is already toying with the idea of unleashing Osimhen on FC Bologna in a Serie A tie schedule for January 16th.
Osimhen was earlier expected to miss around three months of action after surgery on his cheekbone and eye socket after he was injured during 3-2 Serie A defeat away at Inter Milan.
But the Super Eagles striker stunned Napoli's doctor when he announced his readiness to be part of Nigeria's AFCON party weeks after successful surgery on his cheekbone. But his dream of representing Nigeria in Cameroon went up in flames after he tested positive to Covid-19 last week.
Napoli is currently 3rd on the log with 39 points behind AC Milan and Inter in Serie A but Osimhen's nine goals from his last 12 outings across all competitions make him one of the hottest strikers in Italy this season.
With the Juventus clash to come up this Thursday before any potential transfer to fill the void left behind by Osimhen's absence, coach Spalletti will again keep faith in Arkadiusz Milik to bring home the bacon against The Old Lady of Turin.
