Former Nigeria striker Jonathan Akpoborie and former African footballer of the Year Victor Ikepba has advised Super Eagles Interim Technical Director Augustine Eguavoen on how our boys can beat the Black Stars of Ghana to the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup ticket.

The winner of the two-leg matches slated for Kumasi on March 25 and Abuja on March 29 will pick one of the five tickets allocated to Africa.

For Akpoborie Eguavoen “The first of the 2022 World Cup qualifying playoff against Ghana in Kumasi could determine the fate of both teams in their quest to pick the ticket.

”I know the players know the importance of the game. However, I will urge Eguavoen to select players that are ready to sacrifice their legs against Ghana.

“The second leg may be a formality for the team if the Super Eagles pick the right result. I am confident the players won’t disappoint.”

Also, former Nigeria international Godwin Okpara has the decision not to release the squad will not offer any advantage to the Black Stars because they won’t unearth any special player that is not known to Nigeria.

Okpara told brila.net that GFA’s strategy to deliberately withhold the list of Black stars players is outdated and not one to really bother Nigerians.

He stressed that the key thing will be for Super Eagles to be mindful of getting themselves together knitted as a team for the tie.

For Ikpeba head coach has a selection headache ahead of the Ghana showdown

"What we want is to see them go out and defeat Ghana and qualify for the World Cup. We should not dwell on the list.

"Eguavoen has a selection headache. We don’t know if Chukwueze or Moses will start because we have lots of forwards. “Integration is important. You need time to gel. Europe is different because you play together.” Said Ikpeba.
