Nigeria 2-1 Sierra Leone: Osimhen seals comeback win for Super Eagles
Victor Osimhen

Victor Osimhen scored what was the winning goal against Sierra Leone as the Super Eagles got off to a winning start in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers on Thursday at the M.K.O Abiola Stadium, Abuja.

After falling to a 10th-minute goal, Alex Iwobi got the equaliser for the Eagles five minutes after as he combined well with Simon Moses to get the equaliser.

Simon Moses also had a hand in the second goal scored by Osimhen in the 41st minute as the Napoli fired in the headed pass from the Nantes forward.

Hard as the Eagles tried to increase the tally, they could not as the Leone Stars almost pulled a draw once again against the three-time African champions.

With Thursday's result, the Super Eagles have finally ended a five-match winless spell which dates back to January during the AFCON tournament in Cameroon.

Next stop for the Super Eagles is an away game in Marrakech against Sao Tome and Principe
