NPFL: Crisis in Lobi Stars as Enyimba names Play of the Month for April
All is not well at Lobi Stars as players embarked on strike to protest the non-payment of their salaries.
The players, according to reports, have not received their salaries for the past two months.
As a result, they have resolved not to train or participate in any club activity till their outstanding salaries are paid.
The Makurdi club has fallen off the title race in recent weeks after some poor results.
Eugene Agagbe’s side currently occupy fifth position in the table with 52 points from 32 matches.
The Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, is currently on a one-month break.
Elsewhere, defender Uwana Asuquo has won Enyimba’s Player of the Month award for April.
Asuquo won 60 percent of the votes cast by the club’s supporters. The right-back beat forward Joseph Atule and midfielder Chibuike Nwaiwu to the award.
Asuquo played a crucial role in the People’s Elephant’s three wins in the month.
He provided two assists in Enyimba’s 5-0 thrashing of Kano Pillars in the matchday 28 tie in Aba.
Enyimba will hope he maintains his impressive performance as they aim to successfully defend the title they won last season.
