Super Eagles forward Kelechi Iheanacho says Leicester City should look to impose their own style on the game as Brentford visit King Power Stadium on Sunday.

The Bees are City's opening-weekend opponents at King Power Stadium on Sunday after the Foxes secured a duo of victories over Thomas Frank's side last term.

Iheanacho, who has featured often for Leicester in pre-season, is excited to get started but is aware of the challenge the visitors pose.

"They’re a good side," the Nigerian told LCFC TV this week. "Every team is working hard. We know what to expect, but maybe they’ll be a bit different now. We have to be ready. They’ll be preparing and we are preparing as well. You know how the Premier League is. It’s tough and no game is easy.

We have to be ready and prepared. We’ll go and play our football with confidence.

"We’ll have to be ready and hopefully we’ll get the three points. We can take confidence [from beating Brentford twice last season] but that was last season. This season, it’ll be totally different. We have to be ready and prepared. We’ll go and play our football with confidence."

Iheanacho has called on his Leicester colleagues to 'attack the game' on Filbert Way – in order to be able to impose their own style.

A positive result in that clash, the former Manchester City forward believes, can set the Foxes up for a positive run of form to begin 2022/23.

"We’re at home, so we need to attack the game, and defend well as well," he added. "It’s the first game, at home, [so we want] a good start, the three points. It’s going to be hard, it’s not always easy.

"They’re coming to win as well. We need to take it serious and make sure we win our first game to get the momentum and the confidence."
