Federation Cup: Imade shoots down Flying Antelopes as Bendel Insurance breaks 43-year-old jinx  

Bendel Insurance who last won a national title in 1980 claimed its fourth Federation Cup, on Wednesday at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba adding to their previous triumphant years of 1972, and 1978.

Imade Osenrenkoh scored from the penalty spot as Bendel Insurance defeated Rangers International otherwise known as Flying Antelopes 1-0 to win the 2023 Federation Cup ending 43 years of national title drought. 

Bendel Insurance who last won a national title in 1980 claimed its fourth Federation Cup, on Wednesday at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba adding to their previous triumphant years of 1972, and 1978.


By the Federation triumph, the Benin Arsenal will represent Nigeria at the 2023/2024 CAF Confederation Cup, a competition they won in 1994.

It was a great ending for Bendel as they only lost two games in all competitions this season with forward Imade Osenrenkoh playing a crucial role in the season. 

The Uniben graduate open the scores with the first goal of the season and coincidentally scored the last goal of the season notching home 11 goals in all Bendel qualified for the Super 6 without losing a game.

Meanwhile, holders Bayelsa Queens retained the women's version after they defeated Rivers Angels 4-2 in a penalty shootout after goalless 90 minutes in the finals played on Wednesday in Asaba. 


Bendel Insurance will get fifteen Million naira for their effort while Bayelsa Queens will go home with ten million naira.
