It's matchday on the football pitch for the two teams representing Nigeria in the football event at the ongoing 2023 African games in Accra Ghana.

The Flying Eagles will be looking to redeem themselves against South Sudan later tonight at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium.

The Ladan Bosso tutored boys lost their opening match against Uganda by 2-1, thereby setting up a win or burst with South Sudan, a team which also lost their opening to their counterparts from Senegal by 1-0.

The match which is slated for 8 pm is the first encounter between both countries at the games as the Flying Eagles seek their first-ever gold medal in the football event of the African games.

Meanwhile, the Falconets will be looking for a consecutive victory at the games after they crushed Morocco over the weekend by 2-0 courtesy of two first-half goals from Fatima Bambara and Yinna Adoo.

The Nigerian side will be looking for a victory to consolidate their position in the group against the Senegalese by 8 pm at the Cape Coast Stadium.

Nigeria won the Gold medal in the last edition of the games and they are a top favourite to win the gold medal in the 2023 edition.
