Cameroon's first-choice goalkeeper Andre Onana has been involved in a ghastly motor accident along with his brother on Tuesday morning

Reports indicate the Ajax shot-stopper was heading to Douala from Yaounde for the Indomitable Lions’ upcoming World Cup Qualifiers against Algeria when the unfortunate development occurred.

According to the local media in Cameroon, the 25-year-old is said to have escaped unhurt from the crash and he was able to continue his journey in a borrowed car.

Cameroon and Algeria face each other in a doubleheader to determine who gets one of five African tickets to the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup.

The first leg is scheduled to hold on Friday, March 25 at the Japoma Stadium in Douala while the second leg is slated for Tuesday, March 29 at the Mustapha Tchaker Stadium in Blida, Algeria.

Onana is the first-choice goalkeeper for the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon and was in goal all through as the Cameroonian national team won bronze at the recently-concluded 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON

The Indomitable Lions with their quarter-final appearance at Italia 90 remains one of Africa’s best participating teams ever at  the Mundial.

Having missed out at the last World Cup in Russia, Cameroon are hoping to return this term but they would need to navigate past Alegria to secure an eighth appearance at the global showpiece.
