The Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) on Thursday officially announced a partnership deal with La Liga, that will see the best 11 players at the end of the season embark on a tour of  Spanish league.

Chairman of the League Management Company (LMC) Gbenga Elegbeleye, disclosed this during a press conference in Lagos where the NPFL technical committee was inaugurated.

According to Elegbeleye, the NPFL Technical Committee will select 11 All-Star best league players at the end of the 2023/2024 league to train and play with the best of La Liga teams.

Elegbeleye said the initiative became necessary based on the fact that there was a need to make the Nigerian league more viable and reward hard work.

The technical committee for the All Stars is headed by Daniel Amokachi, other members are Harrison Jala, Austin Eguaveon, Daniel Amokachi, Godwin Nwa, Deji Omotoyinbo, Segun Agbede, and Mitchel Obi are all members.

The All-Star squad will travel to Spain for two weeks to play friendly games with top La Liga teams, while the coach with the highest point will travel with the 11 All-Star team.

Elegbleye stated :

“There’s an agreement we have secured with top La Liga Clubs to host our NPFL All Stars squad to play against some other top teams in Spain.

" This will further enrich the experience of our play arts, as they will have the opportunity to play with the best,” he said.

Jala one of the committee, said the committee was ready for the task ahead as fairness will be their watchword.

“This is a call to service; we intend to make fairness our watchword and give our league a facelift, and make it better than the 2022/2023 league season.

“If you check the caliber of people on the committee you’d see that they’re seasoned professionals in their irrespective fields,
We are open to suggestions and ideas but fairness remains our watchword,” Jalla submitted.

The season will begin on September 9, 2023 across different centers in the country.
