Fiorentina increases Kayode’s wages from 30,00 Euro to 1 million Euro to ward off Arsenal‘s interest

Serie A club Fiorentina are preparing a new contract that will triple Nigeria-born Michael Kayode’s salary to stave off interest from Arsenal and Bundesliga clubs.

The 19-year-old plays primarily as a right-back, but can also work on the left and has been increasingly used by coach Vincenzo Italiano following the season-ending knee ligament injury for Dodo.

Having spent time in the Juventus and Fiorentina youth academies, Kayode only turned 19 in July and has seven appearances this term between Serie A and the Conference League, providing one assist.

His performances have attracted interest from Arsenal and several teams in Germany, so Fiorentina are ready to lock their talented discovery down.

According to the Corriere Fiorentino newspaper, agent Claudio Vigorelli has a meeting set up to agree a new contract that would triple his current salary, which is just €30,000 per season.

The new deal would take his pay up to almost a full €1m per year, as well as the promise of regular first-team football to aid his development.

Kayode was born in Italy to Nigerian parents and already has 12 caps for Italy at Under-19 level, as well as being called up by the Under-21 team.
