A Nigerian-born goalkeeper Josh Oluwayemi has finally ended his 11-year stint at Tottenham Hotspur and he is set for a fresh challenge at another English club Portsmouth.

Oluwayemi who has received a call-up to the Super Eagles once on Tuesday paid tribute to Spurs in a heartfelt message following his summer departure.

Training with Portsmouth earlier in the summer, the 21-year-old, who did train alongside Hugo Lloris and the first-team goalkeepers at Spurs from time to time, has now signed on the dotted line at Fratton Park ahead of the 2022/23 campaign. Oluwayemi has penned a one-year deal with the League One club, with Pompey having the option to extend it by a further 12 months if they wish.

Fresh from signing a contract with the south coast club, the goalkeeper posted a classy message about his time at Tottenham on his social media channels.

"It’s an end of beautiful chapter at the club," he wrote. "I want to say thank you to all the coaching staff, the fans and the teammates. Picking me up as a 10-year-old boy, it has been an eventful 11 years with many memories and @spursofficial will always have a place in my heart #COYS."

On his move to Portsmouth, he said: "All the glory be to God. I am glad to sign for such a big club with a rich history. Can't wait to get started with @officialpompey. Let’s go!!!"
