Bendel Insurance joins Remo Stars, Enyimba to crash out Caf competitions

The number of Nigeria football clubs to crash out of Caf competitions increased to four on Friday as Bendel Insurance crashed out of the Caf Confederation Cup to join Remo Stars, Enyimba, and Delta Queens who had earlier crashed out of the more prestigious Caf Champions League.

Insurance lost 0-1  to Morocco’s RS Berkane.

Youssef Zghoudi beat an offside trap in the first half to score the only goal of the game.

Both teams battled to a 2-2 draw in the first leg two weeks ago at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City.

RS Berkane, who won the competition in 2022, proceeded to the group stage 3-2 on aggregate.

Nigeria’s other representative in the competition, Rivers United will entertain Burkina Faso’s Etoile Filante on Sunday.

The fixture is slated for the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, Port Harcourt.

The Port Harcourt club were held to a 0-0 by the Burkinabes in the first leg.
