Nigeria’s U20 girls, Falconets have secured a 3-1 away win in the 2022 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup final round, first leg clash over their Senegalese counterparts.

The two–time World Cup runners-up have now amassed a total of 21 goals in six matches in this long qualifying series.

Flourish Sabastine who plays club football with Bayelsa Queens, was the hero for the Falconets as she bagged a hat trick with goals in the 8th, 56th and 62nd minute from the penalty spot.

Before Saturday's win in Darkar, the Nigeria U20s had jettisoned the Central African Republic, Republic of Congo and Cameroon on the way.

The Senegalese girls reached this final qualifying round after edging the Mali U20 girls 5-3 on a penalty shoot-out, with both teams tied 1-1 at the end of the two-legged fourth round fixture.

The Falconets produced a masterclass performance with silky touches, good positioning, on-field aptitude and proficiency.

 

The return leg will take place at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City on Saturday, 26th March.
