Slavia Praha forward, Peter Olayinka has made a big promise he would do his very best for the Super Eagles at the Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon
234sportsng.com reports.
The striker expressed his relief and delight after being called up by coach Austin Eguavoen to join the travelling party to Cameroon.
In an exclusive chat with www. Slavia. CZ, the paper-weight striker described the gesture as a dream come true and vowed to justify his inclusion in the team as Nigeria begin the chase for its fourth African Cup of Nations diadem.
"I'm excited, it's a dream come true for me. I'm looking forward to the tournament, I can't wait to give it my all," he told the club's official website.
Olayinka and Henry Onyekuru were called up to fill the void after the duo of Victor Osimhen and Emmanuel Dennis were ruled out of the competition.
The former eventually pulled out of AFCON on health grounds despite his speedy recovery from cheekbone surgery while the latter bowed to pressure from manager Claudio Ranieri who stated in clear terms that his invitation came in late.
But Olayinka has turned out to be one of the shining lights as Slavia Praha this season after he notched up six goals with two assists so far.
The African Cup of Nations begins on January 9 and the Super Eagles will have their hands full with a mouth-watering opening clash against Egypt in Garoua two days later.
Nigeria will then face Sudan on January 15 while their last group fixtures will be against Guinea Bissau.
