The Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, has confirmed that the 2023 Federation Cup will hold on May 26th, 2023, www.234sportsng.com reports.

This is contained in the road map released by the apex football governing body in Nigeria on Saturday.

The road map shows that the draws for the National competition will hold on Wednesday 19th of April, 2023 at the Conference Room of the NFF/FIFA Goal Project, inside the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja.

Meanwhile, the event will be preceded by eight playoff matches across different centers as the eventual 64 teams will be drawn for the round of 64 in one leg elimination series.

The round of 32 matches has been scheduled for Wednesday, 3rd May, with the Round of 16 slated for Wednesday 10th of May and the quarter-finals to take place on Wednesday, 17th May.

The semi-finals will come up on Wednesday, 24th May with the grand finale on Saturday, 27th May.

The winner of the competition will represent the country in the 2023/2024 CAF Confederation.

The early conclusion means the country will avoid the conundrum of the last year when the NFF failed to get the competition concluded on time to beat the nomination of teams for the 2022/2023 CAF confederation deadline.

This ugly incident forced teams to abandon the competition at the quarter-finals stage when it was obvious that the winner won't be representing the country at the competition.
