Pioli to Chukwueze: “ You need to score, assist and work like Pulisic”

AC Milan coach Stefano Pioli ahead of Sunday's match against Atalanta has told Super Eagles forward Samuel Chukwueze to emulate teammate Christian Pulisic.

The signing of Christian Pulisic has been praised by many as Milan paid a mere €20m for his services (plus bonuses). So far, he has eight goals and seven assists to his name in all competitions, now considered the undisputed starter on the right flank.

During his pre-Atalanta press conference, Pioli was asked about what Chukwueze needed to do to compete with the American. The manager’s response was clear and perhaps even a bit harsh, sending a clear message to the Nigerian.

“They have the same characteristics. Pulisic scores goals, assists, and works. Chukwueze must score goals, assists, and work,” Pioli stated.

The game against Atalanta is scheduled for 20:45 on Sunday and after the 3-2 defeat Rennes, the Rossoneri will be looking to bounce back with a strong performance. It won’t be easy, though, as the Bergamo side have been in tremendous form as of late (7 games, 6 wins, 1 draw).

Furthermore, a win for Atalanta on Sunday would bring them four points within Milan, with a game in hand as well.
