Enyimba top marksman Emeka Obioma recorded a hat trick on Sunday in the Nigeria Professional Football League, NPFL matchday 17 as Enyimba FC put five past Gombe United to move closer to finishing among the top 3 in group B. 

The match which was played at the Enyimba International Stadium saw Enyimba consolidating their second place on the log as the fight to determine the top three teams in Group A that will play in the Super Six might go down to the wire.

The People's Elephants were at their devastating best with NPFL leading goal scorer, Emeka Obioma leading the assault from the blast of the whistle which resulted in the whitewash of the Gombe FC with Obioma firing three goals in ninety minutes and went away with the match ball. 

The People's Elephant opened the scoring in the 19th minute as Chukuemeka Obioma opened the floodgate of goals before Ikenna Coper made it two in the 36th minute to end the first half 2-0. 

Sadiq Abubakar Adamu made it three in the 65th minute while Obioma added two more goals in the 77th and 84th minute to complete his hat trick and took his season tally to 14 goals.

The Aba-based team sits in second position behind Bendel Insurance in group A with 31 points.

They needed to escape defeat in their last game away to Shooting Stars of Ibadan in the last game of the regular season to be sure of a place in the Super Six.
