Remo stars knock Plateau United out of Super Six race

Remo Stars came from behind to defeat Plateau United 2-1 on Sunday at the New Jos Stadium as two late goals from Olamilekan Adams and Adegboyega ensured maximum points for the Ikenne teams.

After a goalless first half, the game swung into life as Plateau United shot into the lead in the 70th minute.

The game turned on its head in the 81st minute when Adams restored parity as both teams went out in search of the winning goal.

It was Remo Stars that eventually broke the deadlock as Adegboyega turned up and score the winning goal.

It was a heartbreak for the Fidelis Ilechukwu side, as they effectively knocked them out of contention for the Super Six.

The result kept Plateau United on 25 points in 5th position in group A, trailing Remo Stars with 5 points and Akwa United with 4 points in third and fourth respectively.

With only three points remaining in the season to win,  it is mathematically impossible for Plateau United to finish ahead of the Remo Stars and Akwa United as the fight for the remaining two Super Six in the group is now between Enyimba, Remo Stars, and Akwa United while Bendel Insurance has confirmed their place in the Super Six.
