Nadal back in training may play at French Open

Tennis superstar Rafael Nadal has provided some fresh hope that he could recover in time for the French Open with a new Instagram photo.

The Spaniard shared a snap of himself back on the practice court just days after revealing he had stopped training to undergo a new treatment for his psoas injury.

The quick turnaround could be a positive sign with less than five weeks to go until his most successful tournament.

Nadal gave a bleak update on his lack of injury progress last week in a lengthy statement. On week 14 of an initial six-to-eight-week recovery timeframe, the 36-year-old revealed that “the injury is still unhealed and I can't work what I need to compete.”

The world No 14 was also forced to pull out of the Madrid Masters and in his statement, revealed that he stopped practising to change his recovery plan.

“I was training, but now a few days ago we decided to change course a bit, do another treatment and see if things improve to try and get to what comes,” he added.

“I can’t give deadlines because if I knew I would tell you but I don’t know. This is the current situation.” But just five days after revealing he had stopped training, Nadal has already returned to the practice court.
