Man Utd fans cheer as captain Maguire is hauled off against Atletico 

Fans haven't cheered much for Harry Maguire this season - and the Manchester United captain will now be wishing it had stayed that way.

Devoid of confidence and lacking in form, Maguire is still seemingly the first name on Ralf Rangnick's team sheet.

And that's starting to irritate fans - and a number of United stars.

United fans are finally starting to lose patience with Maguire.

And they showed it as they mercilessly mocked the England centre-back by cheering him as he was being SUBBED OFF during as the home side crashed out of the Champions League to Atletico Madrid.

Never shy in making a substitution, Rangnick use all five of his permitted changes in the second half as he desperately tried to save United's season.

Down 1-0, the German tactician introduced veteran playmaker Juan Mata in a bid to snatch a late leveller.

But the Old Trafford faithful erupted in a chorus of ironic cheers as their own captain was hooked.

United were unable to find their late leveller with their season now in tatters.

The record winners of the top flight are already long out of the running for the Premier League title.

The FA Cup and Carabao Cup campaigns didn't last long either.

After a scintillating 3-2 win over Tottenham on Saturday, United claimed they were dreaming of a first Champions League crown in 14 years.

But what followed was a frustrating performance that saw their European dreams crushed.

United are now destined to finish yet another season without any silverware.

Incredibly, that means their current drought will become their longest without a trophy since they were last relegated, 48 years ago.
