It's no secret that Inter Miami have long dreamed of bringing Lionel Messi to the club and the MLS side are growing increasingly confident of their chances of landing the Argentine.

They believe they can even sign him in 2023, after the World Cup in Qatar, which is the No.10's main focus for now.

According to David Ornstein of The Athletic, Inter Miami now expect Messi's arrival and hope he'll agree to join in the coming months.

His current PSG contract ends in the summer of 2023 and discussions between Messi's camp and Inter Miami have already been going on for several years, with Inter Miami co-owners Jorge and Jose Mas leading those talks with the player's father Jorge.

When he was leaving Barcelona, Messi was even linked with a move to an MLS franchise then.

Although it would have been too early to take his talents there at that stage of his career, there were discussions about him signing with Manchester City for a few years and then moving on to New York City FC as part of the same contract.

That never materialised, but now Inter Miami could be a realistic American landing spot for the player, especially since he has spent a lot of time in that city and has business interests there.

If he does move, he would be the most high-profile transfer into MLS in history.

Despite the serious interest from Inter Miami, and their reported confidence in signing him, Messi still has options in Europe.

There has been talk of a romantic return to play with Barcelona again, while PSG would also like to renew him now that he has rediscovered his best form to start the 2022/23 campaign.

In any case, Messi's future will become clearer after the World Cup, which is his focus right now.
