WAFU B CAFWCL: Delta Queens book Ampem Darkoa's final

Delta Queens of Nigers have qualified for the final of the 3rd edition CAF Women Champions League, WAFU B Qualifying competition on going in Benin on Monday.

In the match played at the Samuel Ognemudia Stafium, the Nigeria representative defeated   Athletico of CIV by 3-2 after extra time after it ended 1-1 at full time.


The Nigeran champion came from a goal down, before scoring two more in the extra time to seal a semi-final victory and book a place in the final. 

Mellissa Behinma gave the Ivorians an early lead in the 5th minute, before 
Mercy Omokwo came from the beach to restore parity in the 63rd minute to force a 1-1 draw at full-time. 

The super sub shot Delta ahead in the 98 minute before Taiwo Afolabi extended Delta Queens' lead in 106 minutes taking the game beyond the reach of the visitors as 
Joy Sunday's 114-minute goal wasn't enough to push to the penalties. 


The team will now face Ampem Dakoa of Ghana, which defended Sam Nelly FC of Togo in the other Semi-Final by 6-1  to determine the regional Champions.

The winner will qualify for the 2023/2024 CAF Women  Champions League competition billed for Morrocco later in the year.
