Napoli are officially the champions in the Italian Serie A after they held Udinese to  a 1-1 draw on Thursday night at Friuli.

Victor Osimhen who has been a pivotal player for the Naples-based club all season proved his mettle yet again; scoring the vital goal that ensured Napoli's title party kick-started even with five matches left to be played.

With 80 points from 33 games, Napoli have an unassailable 16 points lead that has seen win their third Serie A title after earlier successes in 1987 and 1990 during the Diego Maradona era.

Thursday's party could have come earlier for Napoli last week even they had won the game against Salernitana, but Boulaye Dia’s equaliser postponed the party.

But there was no stopping against Udinese even though the hosts struck first in the 13th minute before Osimhen equalized in the 52nd minute.

Osimhen has had a phenomenal run with Napoli with 21 goals from his 26 Serie A appearances this campaign and the Nigerian striker is on track to win the golden boot at the end of the season as well.

Osimhen's partner in crime has been Khvicha Kvaratskehlia, who has chipped in with 22 goal contributions in the league since his €11.5m arrival from dinamo batumi in July.

Indeed there have been few better signings in recent years than that of Kvara

The Napoli team in it's entirety deserve this moment of glory right from Alex Meret in goal, Kim min-jae and Amir Rahmani at the back, Giovanni di Lorenzo and Mathias Oliveria at full-back and the rest of the midfield as well as upfront.

Though Napoli will be pained to have been denied a place in the Champions League semi final by AC Milan, they will nonetheless be proud to be the new kings of football in Italy after over three decades of waiting.
