Osimhen reveals Ballon d’Or nomination will spur him to work harder

Napoli star Victor Osimhen feels that being nominated for the 2023 Ballon d’Or is the tonic he needs to work harder to achieve all his goals.

Osimhen posited the nomination is ‘just the beginning’ as he will ‘work hard’ to achieve all his dreams.

The Nigeria international is one of the four Serie A players included in France Football’s 30-man Ballon d’Or shortlist.

“Feels good for this achievement, it was a childhood dream to be there among the best,” Osimhen told Football Fans, Tribe, while on international duty with Nigeria.

“It’s an amazing feeling for me. I thank those who have been supporting me, my family and friends. I am happy, I dedicate this to God. This is just the beginning. I’ll work hard to make sure I achieve all my dreams.”

Osimhen has scored three goals in the opening three Serie A games of the season and continued his interview by speaking about the rapport with Nigerian fans.

“It’s important to socialise with those who have been important to me,” he said.

“All the Nigerians have been supporting me, through good and hard times. Everyone has been supporting not just me, but all the Nigerian players all around the World. I spent my holiday here and it was important to do this.

“I don’t think I’ve changed. I just want to be happy and socialise with these people who make sure we are on top of our game and give our very best. It’s important for me to try to socialise with them and just be happy and enjoy life.”
