Still basking in the euphoria of their 3-1 win over Sudan on Saturday, FC Torino defender Ola Aina has warned their West African opponent to expect a physical Super Eagles side.
In a chat with
234sportsng.com in Garoua on Sunday, the hardworking defender disclosed that he is already looking forward to what would be one of the classic matches of the tournament next Wednesday.
Nigeria booked a passage to the next round following a resounding win over The Flacons of Sudan on Saturday while Guinea Bissau will need to double their effort and pick three maximum points against Nigeria to avoid a drop following a 'controversial' 1-0 loss to Egypt.
But Aina has warned Guinea Bissau to expect a tough tie when they file out against Nigeria on Wednesday irrespective of where Nigeria stands on the table. He stressed that the coach Austin Eguavoen-tutored side is not leaving anything to chance.
" It should be a good game, we are looking forward to it like every other game, and hopefully we can continue our good form. They may be very physical with their game, but our team also can be physical if we need to. It should be a good contest and we will be ready for it.
Commenting on the possibility of playing the likes of Ghana or Gabon in the knockout stage, Ola started that Nigeria admitted the big names in the competition are also fixing their eyes on the prize.
" I know every team in this tournament is watching one another most especially the big nations. We all have respect for one another and we are all watching the matches. Whatever happens against any team we play, I believe Niger has that spirit and resilience.
"Whoever we play, I just want to assure you that we will be up for it," Aina told
234sportsng.com on Sunday.
