Sports Minister, Sunday Dare, says the 21st National Sports Festival tagged Delta 2022 will go ahead as scheduled.

The Sports Minister gave this assurance and verdict on Friday in Asaba the Delta State capital.

In a bid to have a hitch-free 21st National Sports Festival, a joint technical meeting involving the Main Organising Committee (MOC), the Local Organising Committee (LOC) and other key stakeholders of the event took place on Friday in Asaba after the inspection of facilities.

The Sports Festival that brings together the very best of Nigerian athletes drawn from all the 36 States of the Federation and Abuja will hold from November 28 to December 10.

The Minister of Youth and Sports, Chief Sunday Dare told journalists after the inspection of facilities that he was highly impressed with the level of work done by the various contractors and the Local Organizing Committee (LOC).

“The last time I came here, there were no foundation, but I can say that virtually all the facilities are about 80 percent ready. I am really impressed. This shows the level of seriousness the government and people of Delta State attach to the National Sports Festival.” Dare stated.

Besides the re-laying of the tartan track at that Stephen Keshi Stadium, the Governor Ifeanyi Okowa's administration is constructing two brand new modern Sports hall for the Festival.

The State Government is also renovating the old Sports Hall. A brand new swimming pool is also being built within the stadium complex.
