Mourinho may soon face Roma with ‘new’ Saudi Pro League club

The paths of José Mourinho and AS Roma could cross again much sooner than expected. The Portuguese coach is currently in talks with Al Shabab over a new start for the ex-Real Madrid boss, who has been receiving offers from Saudi Arabia for several months.

Mourinho rejected offers last summer because of “promises made to players”, but made it clear that he would not rule out a future in the Saudi Pro League. Al Shabab, currently eleventh and coached by Croatian Igor Biscan, are optimistic that the deal, if completed in the next few hours, would create an interesting scenario.

In October, Roma closed a deal with their new sponsor Riyadh Season (for €25 million over two seasons), and they also agreed to play a friendly with their best players on the pitch against Al Shabab, scheduled for 24 January. Mourinho, who is seriously considering the Saudi offer, could then possibly take charge of his first game against the team that has just sacked him.

Multiple sources claim agent Jorge Mendes has confirmed Jose Mourinho is ready to accept the Al-Shabab offer, but only on one condition.

The demand is that they can bring in ‘star names’ to the club.

Other clubs potentially interested in signing Mourinho include Newcastle United.
