Lobi Stars maintained their unbeaten run in the Nigeria Premier Football League this season following a 2-0 victory against Abia Warriors at the Lafia City Stadium.

Liman Amadou and Alao Danbani scored both goals for the Makurdi club.

The Pride of Benue have won two and drawn two of their opening four games this season.

Rangers moved to second position courtesy of a 1-1 draw with Kwara United.

Kazeem Ogunleye put Rangers ahead four minutes after the half hour mark.

Kwara United fought back with Alao Mohamed netting the equaliser in 54 minutes.

In Eket, Shooting Stars piled more pressure on Akwa United head coach, Fatai Osho after holding his side to a barren draw. Akwa United are winless this season.

 

Meanwhile, Shooting Stars head coach, Gbenga Ogunbote has said his team will build on their impressive performance against Akwa United.

Ogunbote stated that he has started plans on how to secure maximum points in their next game against Doma United.

The experienced tactician described his side’s draw as a hard fought one.

“Our prayer is to consolidate on this. Any point gained on the road has to be consolidated at home,” he told Shooting Stars media.

“So when we get home we pray we can manage it.

“I want to give glory to God for the one point won, it was a hard won point, but if I say I lost two points, I think it’s not an understanding’.

Elsewhere, Niger Tornadoes forward Yahuza Bala has expressed satisfaction after netting his first goal of the season against Bayelsa United.

Bala’s lone strike in the second half gave the Ikon Allah Boys the maximum points against Bayelsa United at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium in Kaduna on Saturday.

The young striker also promised to add to his tally in Niger Tornadoes’ remaining games of the season.

“I don’t know what to say but I’m happy to get the goal in my first game of the season. I thank God for that,” he told Niger Tornadoes media.

“I promise to continue scoring in our remaining games of the season.”

Niger Tornadoes will take on Sporting Lagos in their next league game at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Onikan.
