Yobo: No cause for alarm over Eagles defence

Super Eagles assistant coach, Joseph Yobo has calmed the frayed nerves of Nigerians after the defensive wall of William Ekong and Kenneth Omeruo failed to keep a clean sheet against the Falcons of Sudan in Saturday's matchday two fixture.
Super Eagles lived up to their pre-match rating by beating Sudan 3-1 to advance to the knockout stage of the competition, but Yobo maintained that the pair of Ekong and Kenneth will continue to get better as the competition progresses.
In a chat with 234sportsng.com, the former Everton centre-back said he is not losing any sleep over the strength of the Super Eagles defence at the moment despite conceding a penalty in the second half.
The former Fenerbahce defender said although the win was not a stroll in the park for Super Eagles, Yobo assured Nigerians to expect the best from the team as Nigeria continue its hunt for the fourth AFCON trophy
" I'm very pleased with the performance of our defenders as far as this competition is concerned. As players come in and go, I have always told them about the importance of partnership in the defence and that is what we are working on.
"As you can see, we only conceded one goal through a penalty today. We are improving every day and we have very good players in the team," Yobo told 234sportsng.com
Nigeria joined host Cameroon and Morroco as the first three nations to book a place in the knockout stage of the competition with a match to spare.
