Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has offered Gareth Bale an invitation to come play golf with him now that he’s retired from football.

The City boss commended the Welsh star for a splendid career and revealed he was quite keen on taking him on at golf as he knows he is very good at it.

Bale aged 33 managed to captain his country at the World Cup and enjoyed massive success at Real Madrid where he won five Champions League trophies.

There were rough times in Madrid though especially when the fans booed him as they tried to get him out of the door. Mainly the Zinedine Zidane era when he fell out with the French legend. There were times it felt like he had lost interest in football.

Bale’s love for golf though never waned with time and Guardiola who admits he’s a fan of the former Tottenham winger has invited him out for a round of golf and hopes now that he’s retired he’ll have plenty of time on his hands to come and play.

He told reporters about his plans to spend more time with Bale: “He was busy, maybe now he has time, I will invite him again,”

Guardiola also admitted the only reason why he never signed Bale was that he was too expensive.

He added: “Too expensive! what a player. Fantastic career, won a lot of things. I think he represents Wales with more than 100 caps and now he can become a fantastic golf player.”

Manchester City will take on Southampton in the League Cup tomorrow before taking on Manchester United and Spurs in the league. Spurs have Arsenal next before the game against Manchester City.
