Legendary football coach Fabio Capello believes Fiorentina can get the better of West Ham United in the Conference League Final, identifying the key weaknesses as the Hammers defence and Declan Rice against Sofyan Amrabat.

It will be the second Final of the season for the Viola, who were beaten by Inter in the Coppa Italia decider last month and have not won European silverware for 62 years.

“Fiorentina should be proud to have gone all the way in this tournament and Roma taught us last season that winning any international trophy is always satisfying,” Capello told Radio Firenze Viola.

The now retired coach is in an ideal position to help predict this match, as he was the manager of England from 2007 to 2012.

“I see it being a very even game. Fiorentina have great potential, quality and pace, all the aspects you need to play against West Ham. Although the Hammers started the season badly, they improved as it went on and have some good players, even if they are certainly not phenomenal.

“The West Ham defence is no more than average and tends to clam up in its own penalty area. The key battle could be in midfield and Amrabat definitely has more than Rice.”

There have been reports that coach Vincenzo Italiano could move on to Napoli at the end of the season.

“When a coach is convinced of his ideas and feels mature enough to step up and train a big team, I think he ought to make that step. First with Spezia and then Fiorentina, Italiano showed he has ideas and knows how to pass those on. That is the most important thing.”
