EPL Round-Up: Iheanacho sinks Spurs as Brentford hold Arsenal
Kelechi Iheanacho

Nigeria international Kelechi Iheanacho continued his good run of form in the Premier League for Leicester City on Saturday; scoring a goal and providing an assist in their 4-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur at the King Power Stadium.

Iheanacho, who was only making his third start of the season in the League this season, showed once more why he needs to be taken more seriously with his invaluable contribution to Leicester City’s seventh win in the league this season.

Though the hosts started on a shaky note, falling behind to a 14th minute goal scored by Rodrigo Bentancur, they picked themselves up afterwards and never looked back afterwards.

Nampalys Mendy set the tone with the equaliser for the hosts  in the 23rd minute.

Iheanacho provided an assist for James Maddison two minutes after thus putting Leicester City in front for the first time in the game.

Then the in-form Iheanacho deep into the first half stoppage time showed great footwork before curling in a low shot to make it 3-1 for the host going into the break.

While many expected a fightback from Spurs in the second half, they couldn’t do anything; instead they conceded one more to end the tie in a disappointing 4-1 defeat.

With this latest win, the third on the bounce, Leicester City have moved to the 13th spot on the log with 24 points from 22 games.

For Spurs, they would be disappointed not to have built on the massive victory they recorded over Manchester City last weekend.

Antonio Conte’s men are out of the top four for now in fifth position with 39 points from 23 games.

Elsewhere, Ivan Toney scored a deserved equaliser as Brentford left Arsenal with a draw that could blow the Premier League title race wide open.

Leandro Trossard’s first goal for Arsenal had given them the lead in a game where they toiled for large periods, with Toney nodding in a leveller to earn the Bees a 1-1 draw and extend their unbeaten league run to 10 games.

Arsenal had lost at struggling Everton last week and could only follow that up with a share of the spoils here, leaving them six points clear of Manchester City.

The day’s early kickoff between West Ham and Chelsea also ended with a 1-1 draw.
