Team Nigeria athletes in Birmingham are not only winning medals but they are doing so in a record-breaking manner.

On Saturday at the Alexander Stadium, Eucharia Iyiazi joined the exclusive list of record breakers as she emerged tops in the Women's F55-57 Shot Put event where she set a new Games Record with a 10.03 throw.

While Iyiazi won the Gold her compatriot, Ugochi Alam settled for the Bronze as Team Nigeria overtook South Africa on the medals table.

Team Nigeria at the time of filing this report have eight gold, three silver and 5 bronze medals which is slightly better than South Africa who has seven gold, seven silver and nine bronze medals.

Though many events are yet to be decided which leaves room for changes in the current position, it is gladdening to reiterate Team Nigeria is on course for even more medals as the Commonwealth Games is now heading for the home stretch.
