Ancelotti was delighted after Guler scored Madrid’s fourth in Celta Vigo’s 4-0 defeat

Real Madrid had the chance to restore their seven-point lead at the top of the table over Girona and eight over Barcelona today with a win against Celta Vigo. And as expected, they did not fail to deliver.

A comfortable 4-0 win saw Madrid cruise to three points, with little to no threat from Celta Vigo.

The onslaught started in the 21st minute through Vinicius Jr after which back-to-back own goals in in the 79th and 88th minute essentially sealed the game. Arda Guler added the cherry on top with his first goal in white in added time.

Following the win, Carlo Ancelotti was asked about his team’s performance, and he did not shy away from comparing it to the dreadful showing he saw vs RB Leipzig in the UCL this week.

“It was easy to do better than Wednesday.”

“Every match is important, and this could have been a trap game,” he added.

He singled out Luka Modric, who was unquestionably the man of the match tonight despite not recording a single goal or assist.

“Luka played a great game. The fans don’t applaud him because they think it will be his final games, but because of his performance.”

Ancelotti shared a few private moments with his players following the win, hyping them up after the win. He was asked to share what he said to them, to which he replied, “I told Vinicius that he is the best. Then, I told Rudiger and Nacho the same.”

“Rudiger is a great player, he is also focused,” the manager added about the German center-back.

And of course, one of the talking points was Guler finally breaking the deadlock on his Madrid account.

“Arda Guler has a future here at Real Madrid,” Ancelotti said about the Turkish wonderkid.

“He has played very little, but he was convinced that he could do something. He made a move of great skill. He is a great talent, he has improved a lot and plays with more intensity now. He has a future here, no doubt about it.”
