2024 FIFA U17 WWCQ: Flamingoes crush CAR in Abuja, fly into third round in style

The Nigeria U17 women’s team, the Flamingoes defeated their counterpart from the Central African Republic, CAR, by 6-0 at the Moshood Abiola Stadium on Friday in the second leg of the 2024 FIFA Women's World Cup qualifier. 

The team progressed into the third round of the qualifier with a 12-0 aggregate having won the first leg with the same scoreline in Douala last weekend.

The Flamingoes dominated the game from the blast of the whistle and continued from where they left off last as Chidi Harmony led the onslaught of the sorry CAR and netted a hat trick to record a total of five goals against their opponent over the two legs. 

Kareem Ramota scored a brace while Tessy Kesina one to ensure Nigeria as many as they scored in the first leg.

The Flamingoes will face the winner of the match between Burkina Faso and Guinea in the third round to continue their quest to book a place at the World Cup slated for the Dominican Republic later in the year. 

Nigeria U17 national women won a bronze medal in the 2022 edition of the World Cup which was held in India.
