D'Tigress qualify for Paris 2024 Olympics despite losing big to USA

Nigeria has clinched qualification for the Paris 2024 Olympics despite suffering a heavy loss to their counterpart from the USA after day 2 of the ongoing FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Antwerp Belgium,www.234sportsng.com reports
The Nigerians lost to the Americans 100-46 but secured back-to-back appearances at the showpiece event, due to the subsequent victory of Belgium over Senegal in the second group game which was enough to wrap up a ticket to Paris with a game to spare in Antwerp.
The African champions defeated their Senegalese counterpart on Thursday to set themselves up on the qualification path having qualified for their first Olympics in Athens in 2004 and also made it to the last edition in Tokyo.
Nigeria will be aiming to go higher past their 11th finishes on both past appearances as the team sets for their third Olympic appearance in Paris.
D'Tigress will play their last match of the qualifying tournament on Sunday against host Belgium, a mere formality as both joined the USA to qualify from the group while Senegal failed in their bid to punch an Olympic ticket.
