Tomori, Okafor score for Milan, Madrid beats Las Palmas

AC Milan made it back-to-back wins in Serie A as they came from behind to beat Cagliari 3-1 at the Unipol Domus on Wednesday evening.

It was Noah Okafor who got his first goal for the club five minutes before the break to equalise with a close-range finish from a rebound, then Fikayo Tomori turned in another rebound on the stroke of half-time.

Ruben Loftus Cheek’s long-range striker in the second half created a bit of breathing room and the Rossoneri saw it out from there to make it five wins from six in the league, taking second spot back from Juventus.

Stefano Pioli made changes to the starting line-up from the team that beat Hellas Verona as Theo Hernandez, Yacine Adli, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Samuel Chukwueze, and Noah Okafor all came into the side.

Elsewhere, Real Madrid bounced back from their derby defeat in style by claiming a 2-0 La Liga EA Sports victory over Las Palmas on Wednesday.

Los Blancos had to wait until first-half injury time to open the scoring, Brahim Diaz calmly firing home his first of the year.

Joselu doubled the advantage soon after the restart, with the result helping Real Madrid leapfrog Barcelona in the standings.

Real Madrid came close to opening the scoring after just eight minutes. Joselu picked out Rodrygo in the box, and while the Brazilian's effort was fierce, it was down the middle, which allowed Alvaro Valles to get a leg on it.

Los Blancos kept the pressure on Las Palmas, Nacho's toe poke from eight yards once again aimed straight at Valles.

There was some concern for the home side just before the break when David Alaba walked off the field and straight down the tunnel after picking up an injury.

Lucas Vazquez was brought on as his replacement, moving Nacho into the middle of the defence.

Things improved for Real Madrid just before the break when they finally broke the deadlock. Vazquez's cross found Brahim Diaz, who took a touch before calmly firing the ball into the far top corner.

Las Palmas had a half-chance after the restart, Munir waiting too long to fire on goal which allowed Kepa to make a comfortable save.

It proved costly as Real Madrid doubled its advantage in the 54th minute. Joselu just got enough of his head on Rodrygo's cross, with the ball finding the far corner of the net.

From there Real Madrid controlled proceedings with Las Palmas unable to mount much in terms of chances.

It means Los Blancos now sit on 18 points, one up on Barcelona who were held by Mallorca on Tuesday, but one back of surprise leaders Girona, who continued its strong start to the campaign with a 2-1 victory over Villarreal.
