PSG open talks with Conte to replace Pochettino
According to the report, Conte is tempted by the offer from France, but Tottenham will try to persuade the Italian coach to stay at the club at least until the end of 2022-23
PSG have reportedly opened talks with Tottenham boss Antonio Conte, who has a clause to leave North London at the end of the season.
Calciomercato.com reports the Ligue 1 giants have begun negotiations with the Italian tactician who signed an 18-month deal with Spurs in November.
However, according to the report, a clause in the contract allows the former Inter and Juventus tactician to leave North London at the end of the season. Earlier last week, Conte said that he’d discuss his future with the club at the end of the season.
“We have started to do this with these players because we are working very well and in my opinion, we are improving a lot. For sure, you need in the future to have other important steps and ambition with facts, not only with words, to become stronger,” he said.
“I am committed to this club for another year and the club wanted this type of situation. I accepted because it was good to know each other. After four months at the club, I think the club understood my way to work, I understood the club. In three months, at the end of the season, we will continue to improve this knowledge of each other and then to find the best solution for both.
“I am enjoying working for this club. I like to fight for something important for this club.”
According to the report, Conte is tempted by the offer from France, but Tottenham will try to persuade the Italian coach to stay at the club at least until the end of 2022-23. The Premier League side lost 3-2 against Manchester United last week, but remain in the race for a top-four finish.
PSG will likely part ways with their coach Mauricio Pochettino at the end of the season and Conte is not the only candidate for the job with Max Allegri and Zinedine Zidane also linked with replacing the Argentinean coach.
