Ronaldinho's son on the verge of a deal with Barcelona

Football legend Ronaldinho's son, Joao de Assis Moreira, has been training with Barcelona's youth team. His father thrived at the Blaugrana, winning two LaLiga Santander titles and the Champions League trophy in 2006.

According to Mundo Deportivo, the 17-year-old has been in Catalonia for the last 10 days in his bid to join Barcelona, where he hopes to stay after leaving Cruzeiro.

According to radio show Sin Concesiones, Ronaldinho's son has not signed a deal with the LaLiga Santander giants.

Mundo Deportivo has reported that Barcelona president Joan Laporta is personally involved in negotiations with Joao's uncle and agent Roberto de Assis, who has accompanied his nephew in the Catalan capital.

The Spanish publication indicates that Joao de Assis is a forward who can play both upfront and as a playmaker. He is a skilful right-footed player who can use both of his feet.

The Brazilian star arrived at Barcelona in the summer of 2003 from Paris Saint-Germain, and his signing served as a springboard for a Ronaldinho helped the team bounce back and led them to glory after a few years in which they failed to win important titles.

Coached by Frank Rijkaard, Barcelona won the Supercopa de Espana against Real Betis and went on to clinch the league title with three games to go and a few days after celebrating the club's second Champions League in Paris. In total, Ronaldinho played 207 games for Barcelona and scored 98 goals.
