PSG to appoint agent to negotiate with Madrid as Barca deny interest in Mbappé

French captain Kylian Mbappé could finally be putting the wheels in motion for a move to Real Madrid this summer transfer window.

As various clubs sniffing around the 24-year-old, Los Blancos might believe it’s time to pursue the Paris Saint-Germain star. L’Equipe’s Loïc Tanzi reports that an agent has been appointed to begin talks between PSG and Real Madrid to sign Mbappé.

PSG has put the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner up for sale to the highest bidder. While the Spanish club is likely the favorite to land Mbappé, seeing other potential rivals might have pushed to make a move.

Real Madrid probably couldn’t afford the Frenchman to hear any pitches from other clubs to tempt him. The La Liga side will have to come up with the money to secure the transfer or put a combination of cash plus a player to satisfy PSG’s asking price.

The Ligue 1 club is unlikely to play hardball in discussions since they want to close this chapter. Luis Enrique now heads the project and wants to build a team with young and hungry players.

Meanwhile, Barcelona have ruled themselves out of the running for the Real Madrid target and believes they are being used by PSG.

Barcelona are currently in Los Angeles as part of their US tour and club bosses were taken by surprise when they woke up on Monday morning by claims from French newspaper L’Équipe that the LaLiga champions were set to hold talks with Paris Saint-Germain over the shock signing of Kylian Mbappé.

The Catalans, however, have moved quickly to play down those reports, which they believe may be a ploy by the Parisian side to jolt Mbappé's long-term admirers Real Madrid into action (Los Blancos are hoping to sign the France captain for free in the summer of 2024 rather than pay a huge fee for him now).

Barça have revealed that they won’t be getting involved, though, as they don’t possess the financial power to sign the attacker at present, while they also believe Madrid’s long-standing interest in Mbappé gives Los Merengues a significant advantage.

The message coming out of the club is clear: “This has got nothing to do with Barça”.
