Osimhen set to sign new Napoli deal after club agrees to reduce release clause

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen and Serie A Achampion Napoli are closer to signing a new deal after the club agreed to reduce his relase clause from €200m to €140-150m.

According Sky Sport Italia, there is still some debate over the extent of his release clause but an agreement will soon be reached.

The Nigeria international was Capocannoniere for the Scudetto winners and linked with every big club in the world, including Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester United and Chelsea.

However, he is eager to sign a new deal at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona with an improved salary and negotiations have been progressing well with his agent.

According to the report from Sky Sport Italia, they are now closer to an agreement and hope to get it done in the next meeting.

There is still one big sticking point and that is the value given to a release clause, which he currently does not have as part of his contract.

It had been suggested at €200m, which is roughly how much Napoli value Osimhen, as far as president Aurelio De Laurentiis insists.

However, it is reported that the final figure in the deal could be closer to just €140-150m, which may well be inviting offers from next summer.
