Liverpool have a huge opportunity to end their poor record against Napoli after the Super Eagles and Serie A side’s star striker Victor Osimhen was rated as a serious doubt for the match after picking up an injury.

The Reds have failed to win in the three matches they have played in the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium but Wednesday’s Champions League clash could pose their best chance to correct that record.

Liverpool and Napoli have become familiar foes in recent years, after being drawn into the same European group three times since 2010.

Liverpool have failed to win in Italy on each occasion they have played the Gli Azzurri playing out a 0-0 draw in 2010 before losing twice in two years between 2018 and 2019 under the management of Jurgen Klopp.

However, they could have the opportunity to correct this issue after Napoli’s talismanic striker Osimhen picked up an injury in the club’s 2-1 comeback win over Lazio this weekend. Reports from Italy suggest he did not complete full training on Monday alongside his teammates.

Fortunately for the Anfield faithful, the Reds’ home record against the Neapolitans is far superior to what it is away. The club have won two out of three of their fixtures on Merseyside with the 1-0 success in 2018 being particularly important.
