Olympics champions descend on Lausanne for Diamond League

Olympic champions Katie Moon, Ryan Crouser and Selemon Barega will all feature at the sixth Wanda Diamond League meeting of the season in Lausanne on June 30th.

Ryan Crouser, Katie Moon and Selemon Barega have joined the growing list of Olympic champions set to appear at Athletissima in Lausanne on June 30th, as the Wanda Diamond League approaches the halfway stage of the season.

Crouser, who has just set a new world record in the men's shot put, will launch his Diamond League campaign in Lausanne just a few weeks before appearing in Silesia. The American is looking to regain the Diamond Trophy he won in 2021, and will take on reigning champion Joe Kovacs in a mouth-watering clash at the Stade de la Pontaise.

Moon will be hoping to pick up another in the women's pole vault, having claimed victories in Doha and Florence before she was beaten by reigning Diamond League champion Nina Kennedy in Paris last weekend. The Tokyo gold medallist is still yet to win the Diamond Trophy, and another win would almost certainly see her qualify for the series final in Eugene.

10,000m Olympic champion Barega last won the 5000m Diamond Trophy in 2018, and will be hoping to secure his first title in five years this season. In Lausanne, he goes up against a tough field of several athletes with a personal best under 13 minutes, including world record breaker Joshua Cheptegei.

The Wanda Diamond League Lausanne is the sixth leg of athletics' premier one-day meeting series. It comprises 14 of the most prestigious events in global track and field. Athletes compete for points at the 13 series meetings in a bid to qualify for the two-day Wanda Diamond League Final in Eugene on 16th-17th September.
