A 7-1 humiliation in the hands of Robo Queens of Lagos is all that is needed for Ibom Angels to be relegated from the 2022/2023 Nigeria Women Football League premiership as the Lagos team brightens their chances of making it into the season-ending Super Six with two matches to spare.

In a week 12 match day played at the Legacy pitch in Surulere on Wednesday, Ibom Angels needed to avoid defeat to keep their hope of beating the drop alive.

The Ibom girls hit the ground running by drawing the first blood but that's the only fire in their bullet as Robo Queens took over the initiative and responded with seven unreplied goals. 

The result took Róbo Queens to joint second on the log with 19 points.11 matches same as Edo Queens who have one game at hand as both teams are behind Confluence queens on top of group B with 20 points as the Lokoja-based team defeated Abia Angels away from home by 2-1.

Emenike Chinenye and Peter Martha were on target for Confluence Queens to retain the number one position in Group B while Ibeh Nmesoma scored a late consolation for Abia Angels.

The race of the top 3 in the group may be stretched to the final day as Nasarawa Amazons are also in the mix with 16 points from 10 matches. 

In group A, Delta Queens confirmed their Super Six slot by thrashing visiting Osun Babes three-nil to become the first team to qualify for the Super Six despite two games to spare. 

A goal from Chinaza Agoh and brace Omokwu Mercy gave Delta Queens a comprehensive 3-0 victory over visiting Osun Babes.

In Abuja, Rivers Angels pipped Naija Ratels courtesy of Okah Adaobi’s twenty-nine minutes goal to give a glimpse of hope making the Super Six as the fight for a place continues in the group.

Sabastine Flourish’s late goal gave Bayelsa Queens victory over Royal Queens to maintain the second position in the group A

In the last game of the matchday, Edo Queens picked a point against Adamawa Queens in Yola as both sides played 1-1.
