In a display of his magnanimity and empathy, the Governor of Edo state Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki has promised to pay the medical bills incurred by the Sunshine Stars team at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH) in the course of providing life-saving care for their Curator who was shot by unknown armed men on Thursday.

The governor made the promise through the Executive Chairman of Edo State Sports Commission, Olympian Yussuf Alli who has been concerned and monitoring the situation through his commission's officials, and Bendel Insurance Secretary who visited the injured at the UBTH.

" The Governor of Edo State Godwin Obaseki sympathizes with you. He is so concerned about what has happened to you people and he is deeply pained.

"He asked me to tell you that he is going to take care of your medical bills. He sent his goodwill message to you, praying for the quick recovery of the man who was shot in the attack. He has directed me to follow up with happenings and get the bills from you."

The Edo Sports Commission boss said.

Sunshine Stars were attacked by a suspected armed robbery gang between the Ondo, and Edo border along the Ore-Benin Express Road on Thursday evening on their way to Benin to honour the NPFL Match Day 13 fixture with Bendel Insurance FC of Benin.
