NPFL: Enyimba wallops Gombe United, Abia beat Kwara United

Enyimba International defeated Gombe United 4-0 at the Enyimba International Stadium, Aba, on Thursday.

Mbaoma scored a brace, while Uche Collins and Imot Obot netted a goal each in the game.

Enyimba moved to the top of the table with the victory.

Mbaoma believes that with consistency, the team can remain at the summit.

“It was expected because before the game we all believed that we are going to score more than three goals in the game,” he told the club’s media.

“Scoring my first brace of the season makes me happy.

“We are so excited and it’s good to see Enyimba at the top of the table.

“We will stay consistent henceforth to remain in the position.”

Elsewhere, Abia Warriors caretaker coach, Bethel Orji has expressed delight with his team’s victory over Kwara United.

Orji took charge of the game after the former coach Erasmus Onu was asked to step aside by the club’s management.

The Umuahia club defeated Kwara United 1-0 at the Umuahia Township Stadium on Thursday.

Megwo Sunday netted the only goal of the game in the second half.

Orji believed that the team have the needed quality to improve their performance in subsequent games

“I am elated and thank the players because they came out to play for the victory over Kwara United,” he said in a post-match interview.

“The refurbishment of the pitch affected our performance a little but we got used to it and we moved on from there.

 “We go back to the basics and strategies on our pattern of play.”
