Napoli 2-2 Roma: Osimhen and Abraham score in entertaining Derby del Sole

It was a dramatic Derby del Sole with Napoli first chasing the game, then pegged back by a last-gasp Tammy Abraham header following Victor Osimhen’s penalty.

The Partenopei were in dire need of a boost after one point from games against relegation battlers Frosinone and Empoli, but while Piotr Zielinski and Pierluigi Gollini were injured, Mario Rui and Amir Rrahmani returned from suspension. The Giallorossi stayed fifth with Thursday’s last-gasp victory in the 17-minute match against Udinese, completing the fixture suspended for Evan Ndicka’s collapsed lung. Ndicka made his return here, but Leandro Paredes and Diego Llorente sat out bans, with Chris Smalling, Rick Karsdorp, and Romelu Lukaku not fully fit.

Abraham reveals what he thought before Roma's goal,

“To come here it’s never an easy place. They are the team that won the title last season. It’s always difficult,” Abraham told DAZN after scoring against Napoli.

“We didn’t have many chances, so today we had to dig deep as a team. For the corner, I told myself just to get in the right place. Luckily I was there.

“I dreamt about this moment from the beginning of the season. I had a difficult injury and it was all about getting myself ready and my mind ready,” he continued.

“Thank God I am back, and I am feeling much better. I’ve been waiting for this goal for so long; it’s a dream, and I’ll celebrate with my teammates and my family and get ready for the next game.”

Pundits scored Osimhen seven of a possible ten.

“It was an eventful outing for the former Lille man who was always in the middle of the action. Created several chances for his teammates, but also wasted a few himself. Nevertheless, he at least managed to put his name on the scoresheet thanks to a spot-kick.”
