NOC Women Commission celebrates women's success, calls for more women Inclusion in sports

The Nigeria Olympic Committee Women Commission, ( NOC Commission) celebrates international women's day in Lagos on Saturday (23 March 2023) at the NOC Foyer, National Stadium Surulere Lagos.

The event which tagged " Inspire Inclusion " saw women trooped out in their numbers to participate in the activities line up to mark the day.

This includes fitness walk, free medical check up and health talk ,all aimed at building stronger women and subsequently a stronger world . 

Speaking to a cross section of journalists who graced the occasion , Mrs Olabisi Joseph, the coordinator of the NOC Women said the body is celebrating women breaking of barriers , their Inclusion , as well the great achievement of women in the sports industry.  

Olabisi Joseph said :" Today we are celebrating women, we are celebrating Inclusion, we are celebrating what women have achieved and women are still achieving. We are celebrating  womenbecause they have  broken barriers  as well celebrating all that women have achieved in the sports industry".

" We want women to participate in sports to ensure we have a healthy body and ensure that we contribute our quotas in all spheres of life . We also want to inspire our girls to become great women" . 

" We want to also let the women know that we have open a fair, just and equal platform for both women and men , so our coming together today is to ensure we celebrate the equality and the fairness and justness that we have for women especially through sports".  

A member of the NOC Women Commission, Tayo Popoola speaks further on the essence of the occasion.  

" It's a platform for the women to network among themselves  and discover themselves. 

" Even at the African games we can see the great things our women are doing and this is we say to our men try and inspire women and you will see a greater result " .

She encouraged more women to come, participate and be up and doing and acknowledged that the men are always willing to support them.
