Neymar, Dembele set to trade clubs

PSG superstar Neymar Jr is on the verge of returning to Barcelona while an agreement has been reached between the two clubs for Ousmane Dembele to move to PSG.  contract, deal announcement imminent

According to reports,  Neymar reaches

total agreement on a two-year deal worth €13m per season.

There has been a lot of noise surrounding Neymar and his potential return to FC Barcelona of late, with the 31-year-old being frozen out of the picture at PSG.

Even though manager Xavi Hernandez is not entirely on board with the idea of re-signing his former teammate, the Blaugrana see the operation in a very favourable light.

Neymar’s return would give club president Joan Laporta a marquee signing for the summer, especially after the Catalans missed out on Lionel Messi.

Meanwhile, his comeback would also be productive in the financial sense for Barça, especially at a time when they have to deal with some losses due to the move to Montjuic.

The reporter claims that Barcelona and Neymar have shaken hands on a two-year contract worth €13 million per season net plus bonuses.

There is said to be an option for extending the contract by another year.

But that does not mean that the deal is all done and dusted as there are two more crucial aspects that need to be closed.

For starters, Neymar must agree to a contract termination with PSG which would allow him to join Barcelona for free.

On top of that, the Blaugrana would also need to finalise one or two more exits, for them to be able to bring the 31-year-old Brazilian international on board.

The matter of convincing Xavi about the operation also remains given as the manager still has doubts about whether the former Santos FC wonderkid would be a good fit into the current Barcelona roster.

But, as things stand, there seems to be some major progress behind the scenes with regard to Neymar’s return if these reports are to be believed.

Elsewhere, PSG has activated Dembele’s release clause at Barcelona, the French champions will now soon get their man.

PSG sources have confirmed, as per Fabrizio Romano, that Dembele has signed his first contract at the club, meaning that a deal has effectively been finalised. All that remains is for the transfer to be announced.

Dembele agreed personal terms with PSG soon after it was reported that the release clause had been activated, although the deal has been held up by Barcelona’s negotiations with the player’s agent over the transfer fee split, which is reported to be 50/50. However, that now appears to be resolved.

While Barcelona will no doubt be very disappointed to have lost Dembele, the funds will be crucial to allow them to register all of their first-team players ahead of their La Liga opener against Getafe on Sunday evening.
